I am really pleased to announce that the project ‘Person-specific automatic speaker recognition: understanding the behaviour of individuals for applications of ASR’ has been awarded funding by the ESRC. I’ll be working with CIs, Paul Foulkes and Philip Harrison, as well as two project partners, the UK Ministry of Defence and the Netherlands Forensic Institute, and a commercial collaborator, Oxford Wave Research. The project aims to better understand why certain voices are particularly easy or difficult for automatic speaker recognition software to handle, and ultimately to tailor systems to the specific voices under analysis. We will be recruiting for two post-doctoral research associates in the coming weeks.
More information on the project can be found here.
